Peris Wanjiru is a banking and payments professional who has spent her career close to how money actually moves — through lending desks, funds transfer systems, and the mobile money rails Kenyans use every day. She is the Finance Editor responsible for the accuracy of everything published on mobilemoney.co.ke.
She brings close to a decade of banking and payments experience to the role. At Standard Chartered Bank she spent seven years in lending operations across six African markets, and at I&M Bank she worked in credit operations and funds transfer — handling RTGS, SWIFT and telegraphic payments, and the reconciliation and charge recovery that goes with them. She holds a BSc in Statistics from the University of Nairobi.
Since 2023 she has also consulted for banks, SACCOs, microfinance institutions and digital lenders on mobile money integrations, mobile-money-based credit scoring, and compliance with CBK, AML/KYC and consumer lending requirements — work that keeps her close to how M-PESA, Airtel Money and T-Kash actually operate.
